Guerlain Cygne Noir (10) Ecrin 2 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette ($49.00 for 0.14 oz.) pairs a shimmery black with a deepened burgundy purple. It’s a very dark, smoky color combination. I liked it better combined with other products for greater contrast, but the two can definitely be worn together. It could be better performing, particularly at this price, I’d rather not see a so-so shade like the shimmery black.

Cygne Noir #1 is described as a “shimmering silver black.” It’s a medium black with subtle, warm undertones and silver sparkle. It had good pigmentation but could have used more intensity to be true-to-pan. The consistency was soft, blendable, and easy to apply. I had minor fall out over time, and the majority of the color was intact after eight hours of wear. Make Up For Ever D104 Black Diamond (P, $21.00) is much darker. Cygne Noir #2 is described as a “deeply pigmented plum.” It’s a warm-toned, burgundy with reddish-brown undertones and a pearly sheen. It was nicely pigmented with a very soft, almost powdery, consistency that was easier to use on the lid than the swatch made it seem like. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading. Too Faced Pop (P, $16.00) is more muted, lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Seductive Rose #4 (P) is lighter. Kat Von D Wonderland (LE) is cooler-toned. Sleek MakeUP Sunset #7 (P, $9.99) is more shimmery, lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Tease #7 (P) is less shimmery. theBalm Alice Copper (P, $16.00) is similar. MAC Brazenly (LE, $15.00) is brighter.
